Daniel Dickstein, MD, director of the Pedi-MIND Program, discusses the use of magnetic resonance imaging to understand bipolar disorder.
|
The
goal of the Pedi-MIND Program is to identify biological and behavioral
markers of psychiatric illness in children and adolescents in order to
improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these conditions.
To achieve this goal, we conduct research using cutting-edge technology, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), special computer games and gene samples, to identify how children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders differ from those without such illnesses.
The Pedi-MIND Program is led by Daniel Dickstein, MD, who is board certified in pediatrics, psychiatry, and child/adolescent psychiatry. Prior to his work at Bradley Hospital, Dickstein was a researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), one of the more than 20 divisions of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
